My mom, being the wise and seasoned mother that she is, gave us all a wonderful book for mother's day entitiled A Mother's Book of Secrets: Keys to Making Motherhood Memorable, Meaningful, and Magnificent By Linda Eyre and Shawni Eyre Pothier. It is full of short essays on motherhood with some wonderful insights. One quote that has stuck in my mind since I read it (whilst I sat on the white throne, AKA the toilet- just had to add a dose of reality to this pretty picture. Who ever gets quiet time to read with kids?) Anyway, I digress.... she said that she wanted to remember the details of her children while they were young. "It's about being attuned enough to notice when your kid's eyes shine so you can make your eyes shine back"
How true that is! I want my kids to see my eyes shine when I look at them. So I tried it out the other day and Aubrey said to me as I crouched down low and listened intently to her story of the lastest bug adventure, "Mom why are you smiling at me?" Guess I don't do that enough, strange occurance reported... Mom smiled!
